Miley Cyrus-Biography Of A Singer And An Actor

The singer and actor was born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23,1992 in Nashville, Tennessee to the popular country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia Finley. This name was given to her because her parent saw a lot of hope in her, that she will achieve great accomplishments. She earned the nickname "Smiley" as a young child because she was happy about everything and always smiling. The "S" in the name was eventually drop and it became her current name "Miley" that fans know her by. In May 2008, Miley officially change her name to "Miley Ray Cyrus" to reflect her father's name.

She is the middle child of six children. Her two elder siblings, Trace who currently is a vocalist and a guitarist in the popular band Metro Station; and Brandi who plays the guitar in his sister's concerts. She also has a younger sister named "Noah" who is a rising and upcoming actress.

Miley grew up in Nashville on her parent's farm and while there attended Heritage Middle School where she became a cheerleader. In her early years she attended "The People's Church."

Miley had an interest in acting very early in her life. She became serious with acting at the age of nine when her father moved to Toronto, Canada to continue his own acting career. She attended Armstrong Acting Studio and eventually landing a role as a little girl in one of the episodes in her father's TV series "Doc." which ran from 2001 to 2004. The show was about a doctor from Montana with christian values who accepts a job in New York City as a doctor working in a clinic there.

Miley got her big break in her young acting career at twelve and prior to that she also developed an interest for singing. She auditioned for a part as a "best friend" in a Disney show about a secret pop star. Disney originally thought Miley was too young for the show since it was centered on adolescents who knew about this pop star's secret identity. With urging and persistence from her father, Miley ultimately landed in the starring role after several more auditions and Disney later changed the title of the show to "Hannah Montana." That show went on to become one of Disney's most successful TV show. It drew 5.4 million viewers when it debuted in March of 2006, the most ever for an original TV series on Disney channel. As of this writing, Disney is now planning the fourth and final season of this series.

On the impetus of her success with Disney, Miley began venturing in other areas of her acting and singing career. Miley became so successful with young children and teenager, that this ultimately lead to more successes in her singing career.

Miley made her first recording on April 4, 2006 with the fourth release of DisneyMania, a series of albums of Disney songs sang by various musical artists. She sang the cover song of Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah originally sang in the Disney 1946 animated film classic "Songs of the South" and later that same year Disney release the first "Hannah Montana soundtrack." The album debuted as number one and sold 281,000 copies in its first week and she performed as an opening act in "The Cheetah Girls" 39 city tour. She released her second album, "Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus", on June 2007 and sold 326,000 in the first week.

Miley made cameo appearances in the popular Disney movie and show such as "High School Musical 2" and "The Suite Life Zack and Cody At Sea."

Miley started her first word tour "Best of Both Worlds Tour" on October 18, 2007 and it lasted until January 31, 2008 after 69 concerts across the United States. The tour was later filmed and released at theaters as a 3-D concert movie.

The year 2008 is a busy one for Miley. Miley releases her second solo album "Breakout" on July 2008 after writing most of the songs herself. She said the songs are about what she has been experiencing in the last few years. Also in the same year, Miley hosted two shows, CMT Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards, and voiced the character Penny in the Disney movie Bolt."

Miley is beginning to experience some grow pains in her role as Hannah Montana. Most of her fans are beginning to voice their opinions that she should have ended here ties with Disney, after the release of the Hannah Montana spin-off movie, "Hannah Montana: The Movie" on April 10, 2009. The movie basically reveals to the world that Miley has two identities.

By June 2009, Miley began filming her new movie "The Last Song" coming out in March 31, 2010. In the movie she plays the role of rebellious teenager who spends a summer with her estranged father at his beach home in North Carolina. The film was conceived to introduce her to an older audiences. In the same year Miley released the song "Party in the U.S.A." exclusively through Walmart to promote her clothing line. Her fans downloaded 226,000 copies of that song; making her the youngest artist to top "The Billboard 100."

Finally on September 14, 2009, Miley began her "Wonder World Tour" in Portland, Oregon and ended the tour in London on December 29, 2009, after 45 dates in the United States.
